BBI comprises 3 components that allow us to achieve our mission: the course, events, and our shark tank pitch day.

Bench to Bedside Course

For Mentors

Bench to Bedside Initiative is a 12-week life sciences entrepreneurship crash course for scientists and clinicians at Weill Cornell Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering and Rockfeller University. We build business plans around unlicensed university IP and this has resulted in several seed-funded startups. The course culminates in a “Shark Tank” style pitch competition. Here is information on last year’s Pitch Day.

We have over 60 mentors and guest lecturers involved with the course but are always looking to grow our entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The group mentoring sessions are usually held Tuesday or Wednesday nights, 6pm – 730pm, but can be flexible to the mentors’ schedules. Mentors can commit to one session or to multiple sessions, depending on their availability.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please email us.

For Participants:

“From Bench to Bedside: Business Fundamentals for Entrepreneurial Scientists” is a 12-week seminar series held one day each week on Tuesday evenings.  We welcome professionals of all backgrounds to attend our seminars and to meet our participating physicians and scientists. All attendees are encouraged to form teams and to write business plans around patented technologies approved by the Cornell University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or Rockefeller University licensing offices.

For more information about the course, please email us.

We host events for refine knowledge and develop additional skills to optimize the teams in our course.

If you are interested in either attending a future event, or participating as a guest speaker at a future event, please email us.
